			<description><![CDATA[ Hello all<br><br>In Martials writing aboyt the inaugral games of teh Flavian Amphitheatre in Rome he speaks about the flooding of the coliseum.<br><br>In a documentary the other day they spoke about the discovery of 4 rows of 18 sockets in the floor, some of which had been covered by the subsequent building of the hypogymnasia (sp?). The Prof. in the documentary theorised that these once held supports which supported a false floor and that they arena was flooded in the basement with the... ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[ Naumachia? ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hello all<br><br>I have only read the standard information about the Naumachia but not much beyond that.<br><br>Opinion appears to be divided as to whether these ever happened at the Flavian Amphitheatre and then doubly so if they ever happened at the Flavian after the underground section was added?<br><br>Does anyone have any thoughts/evidence about these.
