I came across the following very interesting website on Pankration and was suprised to see in the gallery the single finger submission motion being used by the fighters. Does anyone have any ideas how far this symbol goes back in time and what it actually means?

I'm a amateur boxing historian 1880 to present day. I often times enter into debates in other online forums regarding champions and there records. Most modern fans are very impressed with Rocky Marciano's record of 49-0 with 43 knockouts. I suspect that the pugilist of Greece and Rome probably had more knockouts/kills in one month then Marciano had bouts in his entire career.
